Valuing Landscapes
As researched, I learnt that glacial landscapes and landforms don't have many values that people see in it. Especially spiritually and culturally. The values are more towards aesthetically, economically and also a bit scientifically. These values are as important as each other and though it doesn't have all the values, it is as special as other landscapes and landforms.
As well as values, many landscapes have many myths and stories or very little stories and myths. Glacial is part of the very little category. But oh well. At least they have something to say and tell to the world. |
Aesthetic ValueGlacial landscapes are one of the unique landscape available. While others maybe also unique as well, Glaciers and glacial landscapes are noticeable for its features. Their features include mountains with white peaks, snow covered crests, slopes and valleys, alpine streams, rivers and lakes. Out on the sea and water, there is ice bergs and glacier with wonderful nature topping of the beauty. The whole scenery honestly just helps you calm down and relax.

Economic ValueGlacial values are valued in some parts of the world. Usually around North America. For example, In regions of limited rainfall and water during the growing season, such as parts of the western United States, glaciers are considered to be frozen fresh tanks that release water during growing season and drier summer months. In mountainous areas like Switzerland or Norway, melted water from glaciers are pretty critical to economic generations of hydroelectric power. Amazing right?

Scientific ValueSurprisingly, there are many scientists settled in cold and icy places like the North and South pole to do their man different research on glacial landscapes and their features. Like going into detail about the aurora lights or checking out the geomorphic processes of the area and finding out about the animals and plants that have their habitats. Without the scientists, we would have no knowledge about the cold, breezy areas.
